Clinical Supervision
All psychotherapists and counsellors are required to have supervision as part of their professional development and to adhere to professional and ethical requirements.
Supervision with Tara is a creative, active and empowering process of joint enquiry with the aim of promoting best practice, increased understanding and adherence to the relevant ethical framework.
My aim is to provide a safe, creative space for therapists to explore their work with their clients, the journey their practice is taking them on and areas for further development. Sessions are designed to leave supervisees with a sense of reflective release and refueling.
Supervision is available for therapists working with adults and/or children, who would like the chance to explore their work through a creative lens.
Supervision can be offered face to face, or alternatively online sessions are available for overseas therapists and those unable to attend in person.
1
Connection
A safe emotional connection, based on respect, trust and a sense of safety
2
Collaboration
Both the supervisor and supervisee feel entitled to have their voice heard, and to explore their experiences, ideas, values and feelings
3
Containment
The supervisee feels safe that the supervisor will be able to cope with their expression of strong emotions
4
Maintenance
Attention is paid to the ways in which the relationship is developing over time - any ruptures or difficulties are explored and processed, which can deepen the relationship
5
Agreement
The supervisor and supervisee are clear about the rules which govern the supervisory relationship (this includes both the organisational contract and also the ‘psychological contract’ – the assumptions which both parties may have about supervision).
According to Hewson and Carroll (2016), the depth of reflection in supervision is limited by the depth of the supervisory relationship. They outline five characteristics of supervisory relationships that facilitate reflection which I adhere to in my practice:
